Understanding the Ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India

In July 2022, BGMI was outlawed in India owing to security reasons. Concerns regarding the game’s direct or indirect communication with Chinese servers were raised by the authorities. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) did, however, prohibit the game in response to requests from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), according to an RTI answer. The Information Technology (IT) Act of 2000’s Section 69A and the 2009 Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access to Information by Public) Rules were used to implement the restriction.
